OVERVIEW
Tennessee National Golf Course is a 7,393-yard, par-72 beauty of rolling hills and open valleys.
"I am very proud of Tennessee National," says Norman. "We had the opportunity to establish the most desirable routing of the golf course before finalizing the residential components and were able to create clusters of core golf that incorporate distinct natural features."
The land's natural framing is unaltered and trees as well as native and fescue grasses are preserved. Norman began designing before home sites were laid out and the final course design is faithful to the contours and topography of the former gentle, rolling farmland.
"I designed Tennessee National so players of all abilities could enjoy it every time they tee it up," noted Norman. "With generous landing areas and large collection areas for bailout around the green, beginners will feel comfortable on this course. At the same time it will challenge more accomplished players because you really have to think your way around, especially from the back tees. There are preferred angles to the greens, so in essence it encourages you to play the course backwards. For example, on a par-4 it is essential to know where the pin is located so you will know the most desirable side of the fairway to position your tee shot."
Covering 260 acres, Tennessee National is a unique golf course with distinctive characteristics including stacked sod-wall bunkers, Aussie Green Bermuda Grass, A-1 Bent Grass, and native stone bulkhead walls and spillways. The course plays 7,393 yards from the tips, but includes four additional tee boxes for players of all skill levels. There are 13 man-made lakes on the course and water comes into play on 11 holes.
