GN-Z Offers TaylorMade Booth Solid Footing
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Grass from the Greg Norman Turf Company has been
used for Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami, Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa, the 1999
World Series in Atlanta and the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney,
Australia.
It has flourished in each high-traffic athletic venue, and is being
put to a uniquely demanding test this week in Orlando.
 | | GN-1, another Greg Norman grass, was the turf of choice this season at
Ravens Stadium. |
In an attempt to beautify its booth and stand out among the 1.1
million square feet of exhibitors at the Orange County Convention Center,
TaylorMade ordered 2,000 square feet of GN-Z Zoysia turf.
GN-Z is a product of the Greg Norman Turf Company in Avon
Park, Fla.
That means thousands upon thousands of buyers, exhibitors and media
will have the opportunity to walk on the cushiony-soft, olive-green blades.
Its use in the TaylorMade booth is the first known indoor
application.
GN-Z is widely regarded for its versatility. It looks as good mown
at 3/16 of an inch as it does at 1.5 inches. This allows the flexibility of
different looks, depending on the desired level of maintenance.
GN-Z is able to send deep rhizomes instead of growing in the thatch
area. This is a distinct advantage compared to Cashmere, Emerald, Meyer or
El Toro varieties. Because of the deep rhizomes, GN-Z is very quick to
establish.
Other characteristics of GN-Z include:
- Medium Texture -- very soft to the touch
- Appealing blue/olive green color with negligible seed head production
- Lower thatch build-up
- Excellent color retention in the fall with early spring recovery
Established in 1995, the Greg Norman Turf Company licensees four varieties of proprietary turfgrass in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
