GN-ZOYSIA
Through a close collaboration with nature, GN-Zoysia is an entirely new variety of the ever-popular Zoysia grass. Unlike the varieties of Zoysia, the revolutionary make-up of GN-Zoysia allows for quick, healthy
establishment due to its ability to send its strong rbizomrs (root system)
deep into the soil. This unique trait makes it possible to grow with plugs
or strip sodding, and GN-Zoysia is ideal for shaded golf courses or other
properties.
It's not just turf... it's your reputation.
GN-Z is a completely new variety of Zoysia developed by Hugh Whiting, a prominent plant breeder. Greg Norman saw the potential of this grass and bought the rights to it for the Greg Norman Turf Company.
What makes this variety so strong for this extreme south Florida climate is its ability to send deep rhizomes instead of growing in the thatch area. This is what makes it stand out compared to Cashmere, Emerald, Meyer or El Toro varieties. Because of the deep rhizomes, GN-Z is very quick to establish.
Another strong suit of this grass is its versatility. It looks as good at 3/16 inch as it does at 1 1/2 inches. This gives the homeowner the flexibility of different looks, depending on the desired level of maintenance.
At heights below 3/4 inch, mowing would be required with a reel mower one to two times a week. At 1 1/2 inches, you can use a reel or rotary mower once or twice a month.
Pests and water requirements are similar to Floratam. However, unlike Floratam where Chinch bugs are the main pest, Bill bugs may affect the GN-Z. Nevertheless, control is available by numerous labeled pesticides.
GN-Z is a licensed grass from the Greg Norman Turf Company. G to Z Turf Services holds the license to sell this grass from Sarasota to Marco Island. Any reproduction for sell or personal gain is strictly prohibited.
