CHICAGO, Ill. -- Australian business students admitted to the Stanford Graduate School of Business in the United States will have the opportunity to study under a $50,000 fellowship announced by Macquarie Bank Deputy Managing Director Richard Sheppard.
The Macquarie AAA Education Fellowship for the Stanford Graduate School of Business will be awarded to an Australian citizen conducting research or undertaking MBA, PhD or post-doctoral studies in business in the United States, to support them through the two-year course at Stanford Business School.

It was announced at the American Australian Association (AAA) Annual Benefit Dinner in honor of Greg Norman in New York, which raised $1.1 million for the AAA's Education Fund.
"The Macquarie group is delighted to be working with the American Australian Association and the Stanford Graduate School of Business to promote business relations between Australia and the United States," Mr Sheppard said.
"The Fellowship reflects Macquarie group's growth in the United States, where it now employs 357 staff in 13 offices and manages $9 billion of infrastructure and real estate assets.
"It will be funded by the Macquarie Bank Foundation, Macquarie Bank's philanthropic arm."
Founded in 1948, the American Australian Association is the largest national non-profit public charity in the United States devoted to relations between the United States and Australia and New Zealand.
Through its Education Fund, it awards several fellowships to Australians for advanced research and study in the United States, to promote educational exchange between the two countries and strengthen science, technology and business relationships.
Robert L. Joss, the Dean of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the former CEO of Westpac, is an Independent Director of Macquarie DDR Management Limited and Macquarie ProLogis Management Limited.
Applications for the Fellowship are due in March 2005, with the successful candidate to be announced in July.
The Stanford Graduate School of Business will promote the availability and eligibility requirements of the Fellowship to its students so that eligible candidates may apply for consideration by the AAA Judges.
