The Premier of Western Australia, the Hon. Richard Court, officially opened Oceanfast's new $10 million state-of-the-art yacht building facility on 29 January 2001.
With an ongoing dedication to building the world's best in luxury yachts and to facilitate the construction of very large super yachts up to 120 metres (394 ft) in length, Jervoise Bay in Henderson, Western Australia was chosen because of its deep-water location, making it suitable for large full displacement yachts like the recently announced contract to build Perfect Prescription at 54 metres (177 ft).

The new purpose-built facility (located near to Oceanfast's current yard) is impressive boasting large construction halls complete with office facilities and viewing mezzanine platforms around each hall. In addition to the most advanced design and construction systems in place, each shipbuilding hall features 20.8 metre (67 ft) overhead crane clearance, automated doors and an integrated rail system thus giving direct launch access to the existing slipway and the deep waters of Jervoise Bay.
Bordered by the Indian Ocean, the local weather in Perth, Western Australia is ideal for super yacht construction boasting 8 hours of sunshine per day with a summer average temperature of 24ºC (75ºF) and the winter average is 13ºC (55ºF) with low humidity.
Fittingly, the first vessel currently under construction at the new location is the 69.5 metre (228 ft) expedition yacht, Aussie Rules, for leading Australian sportsman, Greg Norman, who was also present at the new facility opening ceremony to inspect the progress of his vessel which fell in conjunction with competing in the local Heineken Classic Golf Tournament played at The Vines Resort. Separate to the construction of his own yacht, in May 2000, Greg Norman expanded his relationship with Oceanfast to develop the "Norman Expedition Yachts" line of luxury yachts.
Oceanfast is currently completing the construction of two luxury vessels scheduled for delivery by mid this year.
