HOBE SOUND, Fla. (March 9, 2005) -- President George H.W. Bush, President Bill Clinton and Greg Norman announced today that Three Friends: One Goal, a tsunami relief charity golf outing at Medalist Golf Club, has raised more than $1.8 million to date for tsunami relief.
All proceeds will be distributed to AmeriCares and The U.S. Fund for UNICEF: Water and Sanitation Fund, two nonprofit agencies helping victims of the earthquake and resulting tsunamis.

"We live in a global society, and the tragedy that struck South Asia and East Africa touched all of us," Norman said. "Three Friends: One Goal is an opportunity to help the millions who were directly impacted by these horrific events. We have all been adversely affected by Mother Nature's wrath, many of us as recently as last summer when a quartet of hurricanes swept through Florida.
"If an event of this magnitude can bring together two distinguished Americans from opposite ends of the political spectrum, what more evidence is needed to prove that this is a cause worthy of all of our consideration."
President Bush and President Clinton have been working together since January to raise funds for survivors of the tsunami that killed more than 225,000 and left millions homeless.
Three Friends: One Goal came out of a conversation Norman had with the two former presidents shortly after their appointments as leaders of the American relief effort by current President Bush.
The tournament field includes invited guests who each donated $30,000.
The majority of the field is comprised of Medalist members and other friends and
business associates of Norman's.
Three Friends: One Goal has also received a number of contributions from individuals who are not participating in the golf event but still donated. Anyone else who wishes to make a contribution is encouraged to do so by calling 888.66.SHARK.
