Introduction By Greg Norman It was a pair of instruction books by Jack Nicklaus that launched my education as a golfer. Golf My Way presented Jack's overall theory on how to play the game while My 55 Ways to Lower Your Score offered quick tips on specific subjects. Jack said that the books were a way for him to give something back to the game that had been so good to him.
Believe me, no one appreciated those gifts more than I did, and a generation later it was my privilege to pass along some of the things I've learned during my decades of playing competitive golf around the world.
My earlier book, Shark Attack! (Simon & Schuster, 1988) was analogous to Golf My Way, a manifesto on how I approach and play the game. This book is similar to 55 Ways. In these pages are 100 mini-lessons, on every aspect of the game.
These are the lessons I've learned from playing with the world's finest golfers, from listening to the game's top teachers and, most of all, from my own experience: pressure-packed tournaments, friendly practice rounds and lonely sessions on the range. Some of the tips focus on the basics, the simple fundamentals that can't be overstressed. Others deal with advanced shots or techniques that will require some practice before you master them. Not every lesson will be useful to you, but with 100 I hope you'll find a few worth trying. If one or two of them help you take a few strokes off your handicap, then I'll consider this book a success.
