 | | "I get a big thrill teaching Gregory," said Norman, who was in Palatka Wednesday for a practice round with his son. |
Greg Norman apparently liked what he saw at his first visit to the Palatka Municipal Course.
In town last Wednesday to play an Azalea Amateur practice round with son Gregory, one of the PGA's biggest stars of the 1980s and 90s signed autographs and chatted with any and all while cruising around the local track in 65 shots.
The Shark wasn't done making a good impression. A couple of days after his short stay in Palatka, MC pro Spanky Aaron was the recipient of a case of wine, compliments of Norman and his Greg Norman Australian Estates winery.
"There's a lot of guys on the tour not nearly the status of a Greg Norman who never would have made a gesture like that," said Aaron, noting that the wine was accompanied by a note from Norman thanking him for the hometown hospitality and wishing him well on the Azalea.
"It was really showed a touch of class."
The younger Norman finished his first Azalea by posting rounds of 74-75-80.
