Norman Revises Summer Schedule

JUPITER, Fla. -- Greg Norman had intended to resume his
competitive schedule in July with a trio of major championships, but he
announced today that he has postponed his return. As a result, Norman will
not play the U.S. Senior Open, the Open Championship or the Senior British
Open.
"My knee is fine," Norman said. "My game just isn't
where I want it to be, and the last thing I want to do is take a spot away
from another deserving professional."
Norman has been rehabilitating his right knee following a
second surgery in February that repaired damage to the meniscus. He was
recently given clearance to resume practicing.
"Now I can focus on my game and get ready to play some
tournaments later this summer," he said.
Norman has two Open Championship titles among his 90
professional victories. The first came at Turnberry in 1986, where a
second-round 63 led to a five-shot triumph over Gordon Brand. The second
came seven years later at Royal St. George's where Norman trailed by one
stroke entering the final day and closed with 64 to defeat Nick Faldo by
two. Norman has played in 26 of the last 29 Open Championships.
He will likely make his return at the TELUS Skins Game,
which will be played August 7-8 at The Fairmont Banff Springs in Calgary,
Alberta.
