Hunter Mahan

Hunter Mahan is another of those players who comes to the TOUR with amateur credentials that seem to assure success -- and in his case, all the predictions are coming true. He was co-recipient with Ricky Barnes of the 2003 Ben Hogan Award and also won the Jack Nicklaus Award and Fred Haskins Award as the top collegiate golfer in 2003. He was the No. 1 Amateur in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings in 2003 and runner-up to Barnes at the 2002 U.S. Amateur. He was a two-time member of the U.S. Palmer Cup team and a two-time first-team All-American selection at Oklahoma State University. All that, and he was the winner of the 1999 U.S. Junior Amateur. His first TOUR victory came at the 2007 Travelers Championship and he was a Captain's Selection for The Presidents Cup that same year, finishing the event with a 2-3-0 record. Since his first full TOUR season (2004) he has only finished outside the top 100 on the official money list once and posted his best finish, 16th, in 2007.
