Australian and Queensland Junior representative Tarquin MacManus and Korean golfer Haeji Kang have been crowned 2006 Greg Norman Junior Masters Champions after superb individual performances over the last four days on the River Course at Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club.
MacManus was the outstanding male player over the 72 holes and finished eight shots clear of his nearest rival, fellow Australian and Queensland teammate, Daniel Nisbet. MacManus' third-round 64 was the lowest in tournament history and was only one shot from the course record of 63 set by professional, Ken Druce.
The girls section of the championship was a closer contest with Haeji Kang outlasting upcoming young star, Cecelia Nha. Kang also played in last week's NSW Women's Open finishing leading amateur and fifth overall.
