Sanctuary Lakes Hosting Victorian PGA

The Victorian PGA Championship is being staged this week at Sanctuary Lakes Resort, March 2-5, 2005. The Greg Norman-designed par-72 layout is the first serious test of this wonderful creation. The finishing stretch at Sanctuary Lakes shows how Greg Norman has revealed a bit of his inner-self. The final three holes are strewn with water - a feature indicative of the time Norman has spent in the USA.

Hull Wins At Pelican Waters

Local favorite Katherine Hull from Sunrise Beach delighted the gallery with a final round two under par 70 to win the Titanium Enterprises ALPG Championship at the Greg Norman designed Club Pelican Waters Golf Club.

The powerful 22-year-old carded rounds of 69, 69 and 70 in her own back yard to post eight under par in the breezy conditions on the Sunshine Coast to finish three shots clear of Frenchwomen Gwladys Nocera (72) and Karine Icher (70) and Lynnette Brooky of New Zealand (68).

A shot further back were Lora Fairclough from England (70) Iben Tinning from Denmark (69), Cecilia Ekelundh from Sweden (72) and Sara Beautell from Spain, who had the best of the day five under 67.

Norman, Strange in Ligonier

Greg Norman, who turned 50 on Thursday, will play a limited number of events on the Champions Tour in 2005, but his debut will come in front of Western Pennsylvania golf fans.

Norman will make his first event the 66th Senior PGA Championship at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier. The event is May 26-29. Former two-time U.S. Open champion Curtis Strange, who turned 50 Jan. 30, also will play at Laurel Valley.
