China as Host of the 2005 Johnnie Walker Classic

Beijing will host the 2005 Johnnie Walker Classic. It will mark the first time the event has been played in Mainland China, and is an important milestone for the 14-year old tournament and the development of golf in China.

The Johnnie Walker Classic was first staged in Hong Kong in 1990. Over the past fourteen years, the event has been played in eight different Asian cities over 10 different golf courses. Greg Norman won in Phuket in 1994 when he was World No. 1.

There have been four holes-in-one during the Tour Championship. Blaine McCallister recorded the first ace at Harbour Town in 1989. Greg Norman and Steve Lowery had holes-in-one at Olympic Club in 1994. Jerry Kelly, who finished fourth in 2002, made the fourth ace, when he holed out during the fourth round on the 11th hole at East Lake Golf Club.
