While Ernie Els goes for a record sixth World Match Play title this week, the PGA Tour is in Greensboro -- a tournament won eight times by Sam Snead, a record on any tour. Here are the most dominant performances in one event by current PGA Tour players.
- Tiger Woods, Bay Hill: Run of four straight titles -- by an average margin of five strokes -- ended this year.
- Davis Love, Heritage: Five victories and 10 top-10 finishes in 19 career starts at Harbour Town.
- Mark O'Meara, Pebble Beach: Won five times in a 13-year span, edging buddy Woods by one in 1997.
- Mark Calcavecchia, Phoenix: Three wins by an average of 6.67 shots; broke tour scoring record in 2001.
- Tiger Woods, NEC Invitational: Three straight victories (1999-2001) and top-four finishes in all six starts.
- Phil Mickelson, San Diego: Seven top-fives include three titles; ended Woods' winning streak in 2000.
- Fred Couples, Los Angeles: Two victories and three seconds in a seven-year span; 11 top-10s in all.
- Tiger Woods, Match Play Championship: Won last two and finished second in 2000; overall record is 20-3.

Pelican Waters Hosts Australian PGA Seniors | Oct. 13, 2004 |
The Titanium Enterprises Australian PGA Seniors Championship and the
Titanium Invitational Pro-Am, to be played at Pelican Waters Golf Course on
the Sunshine Coast this week will both feature top fields of Australian
professionals when play begins tomorrow at the Greg Norman designed course.
With an outstanding total prize purse of $240,000 being offered by Titanium
Enterprises for the week, both tournaments have attracted top quality
fields for their categories. The $150,000 Titanium Enterprises Australian
PGA Seniors Championship is headlined by defending Champion John Clifford,
2002 Champion and Titanium Team Leader Mike Ferguson, Brian Jones, Ross
Metherell, Randal Vines, 1999 Champion Trevor Dowling and resident
professional at Pelican Waters, Kyle Francis. |
