Norman carded 70 and 74 in the last two rounds of the classic to convincingly beat his nearest rival, Jeff Senior, by nine strokes. His aggregate score of 295 was 3-over-par.
Norman, 18, was placed second overnight, two strokes behind Ray Miles. However, he quickly made up this deficit with a blistering third round of 70, believed to be an 18-hole junior course record.
Miles fell behind with a 4-over 77 in the third and a 9-over 92 in the final round to take fourth position overall.
Senior had been neck and neck with Norman in the third round, scoring a credible 2-under 71, and was continuing the pressure in the final 18 holes. However, some costly mistakes over the last nine holes assured Norman of victory.
Norman said after the game that he thought he had played "pretty well." His Classic win is his second major competition victory in three years of golf. He won the Junior Championship of Queensland last year.
