Norman Home Again
| ||||||
The Great White Shark was on the stalking his prey again this week.
Norman returned to defend the title he won a year ago and successfully repeated the feat by holding off Roger Mackay by two shots. Roger Davis and David De Long were a further two shots adrift. They shared third on 8-under-par at Riverside Oaks Golf Club.
At the halfway point, Norman and Mackay were locked on 140. The second round pitched a fit to players as it was contested in a shroud of fog.
Heat and humidity returned for the third round as Mackay kept pace with Norman. They posted matching 69s Saturday and entered the final round knotted at 7 under. Norman closed with a 67, his best round of the week, for the victory.
Nothing like early blood to provide incentive for The Shark.
